Infinite Codex, Inc. Privacy Policy

Infinite Codex, Inc. (ICI) asks customers to supply various personal data when placing an order, such as name and address, credit card information, and email address. We use this data only for the purposes of fulfilling an order, fraud prevention or communicating with the customer or reseller about the status of an order. You will be emailed a receipt and instructions on how to setup or download the registered versions of your purchased software.

We will release personally identifiable information to third parties and organizations only when appropriate for us to do so to comply with the law or to protect against fraud.  In the event of a chargeback against a card we release all relevant information about the charge to the fraud department of the credit card company, and our merchant processor.

We will also release such information to cooperate with law enforcement or other governmental investigations, to comply with all valid court orders or subpoenas, to protect the legal rights of us and our users, or when we believe it is necessary for fraud protection and/or credit risk reduction.

Except for the circumstances set forth in the previous paragraph, we will not knowingly distribute customer information or allow the information to be used in mailing lists, surveys, or any other purpose other than what is required to perform our services.

What information do we collect? How do we use it?

VistaDB must collect the purchaser's name, email address, mailing address, phone number, credit card number, and expiration date. This allows us to process and fulfill orders and provide notification of the order status.

For all one time billing scenarios we never store the credit card in our files.  The card number is only kept long enough to ensure the billing, and is never stored to our backend systems.  Only for recurring billing products do we store credit card information, and then it is always encrypted in the database.

How does ICI protect customer information?

Customers who buy through our online store are shopping on a secure server (using SSL) which encrypts all of the customer's personal information including name, address, and credit card number during transmission to and from our servers. Encryption ensures that no one can access or use personal information in an unauthorized manner even if our data flows through their systems (like your ISP, and our DataCenter).  Only your browser and our server can decrypt that data.

Our ecommerce system was developed in-house with security as the number one priority. ICI maintains a Merchant Account with our bank through Elavon. Since we do not use third parties to process or fulfill orders it allows us to maintain the highest level of security with user information. Authorize.net is used as our payment gateway, but they do not have access to customer data beyond what is required for fraud control and billing. No third parties are given access to our server systems. No third parties have access to our customer databases.

Firewall / Logging

We have hardware and software firewalls in an effort to monitor attempts to penetrate our server systems. All access attempts on our servers are logged and monitored. Malicious attacks on our servers are recorded and submitted to law enforcement for prosecution.  Our servers are co-located with Cari.net who also deploys large intrusion detection filters in their datacenter.

SSL (Secure Socket Layers)

Because we accept sensitive information from end-users such as passwords and credit card numbers, ICI's site uses SSL technology. This logic encrypts the data being sent from the browser to the server using industry standard encryption technology. Encrypting the data means it cannot be viewed in plain text.  Once the data is collected it may be necessary for the data to be maintained for a certain period of time inside our servers.

What about cookies?

Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. ICI may use cookies to monitor web traffic, and allow quick access to the online forums, but we will not store sensitive data within them.
